"But those who desire to be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and into many foolish and harmful lusts which drown men in destruction and perdition. For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil, for which some have strayed from the faith in their greediness, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows." -1 Timothy 6:9-10
---

only 4 more days left till the measly, miserable school reopening... T_T
and ms seet sent an email a few days ago reminding us of stuff to do...
pretty commendable. lol. no other teacher has ever bothered to do so before.
she expects me to at least present on the first day of the new term. ._.
what am i supposed to say???

1. i *stayed* in singapore the whole time.
2. the places i've been to are pretty much the same old places:

3. what i did were pretty much only 3 - 4 things:

what can i possibly present, huh? ~_~
and choir too.
i haven't decorated the mask that's to be brought this monday.
that arts festival thingy.
i plan to give the tickets to leonie so i won't have to sell anything.
and the bookmarks.
ended up using our own money.
apparently my dad buys them from me and give them off freely to his colleagues.
he's too generous. ._.
don't know if i should be glad i "sold" them all away.

this week's filled with choir practices from monday to wednesday.
after the practices me + anelie + lele head for bpp.
3 days straight.
for birthday presents hunting.

hmmm... while taking a break from doing homework i browsed around friendster.
looked around dixie's profile n photos. lol. he and yi wei still look the same. ~_~
they're my pri sch friends~ 1 year above me.
used to play in the clementi playground with mui mui and the gang. XD
i got caught a few times by my form teacher for playing after school. =.=
i miss those times!!! X(

oh well, hope i'll survive the next term. =/

my uncle [mum's youngest brother] n his family [my aunt and 2 li'l guys] came last night. ^^ actually i was supposed to attend this morning's church in glory presb. church... but i slept at.. 4 a.m. last night.. so i woke up after the morning service was just before it finished (9+?). ._. i couldn't help it! couldn't sleep last night..... anyway.. i bathed then followed them (aunt + uncle + 2 cute li'l super hyperactive cousins) to science centre with my parents [only my bro n sis didn't go.. they went to the usual church in queenstown..]. spent the day there till 4 when we had to go to IMAX to watch Greece. i got slight dizziness cause our seats were only at the centre of the screen, to the right.. and the screen stops behind, behind, behind ^and at the top!^ (of) us... my mum was worse than me. she couldn't take it, so me + mum + dad took taxi home while my relatives went to esplanade. the taxi driver didn't know where our place was and we somehow kept changing destinations... home, bukit timah plaza, west mall (clinic), home... so my mum threw up when we finally reached home (the taxi driver gave my mum a packet of tissue.. thx!).. and i ended up not going to church today.. (I FORGOT IT WAS QUESTION AND ANSWER SESSION IN CHURCH TODAY TOO!!! I MISSED IT! T___T) hope she'll be well soon.. she looked like she was in so much pain just now.. *freaks out* kinda reminds me of my recent throw-up too. gosh. i felt so horrible then. anyway, my relatives are going to KL tomorrow (night?) for a night (i think). CAUSE OF CHOIR (WHY DOES IT HAVE TO BE THIS WEEK?) I CAN'T FOLLOW THEM! T_T and next week's performance in arts' festival in CJC... I CAN'T GO TO THE WEDDING IN INDONESIA!!! URGH!!! it's on that date.. on the SPOT. . . =.= and tomorrow's choir will be a full-day one. urgh. to think that there'll be VERY FEW people going, for sure. angel's gone back to indo TODAY... diana + arlha + shanny + steffi are still in indo... thank God anelie's coming [tt's what she said. if she doesn't, she dies, and no manga. (anly: u reading this? =D) *cough* and ervin. *phew* haiz. let's hope i'll survive.

*my phone bill... T^T i hope it won't rise.. for i have to send sms to ppl to remind them abt choir.. =.=*

MUSINGS
By MARINA MAHATHIR

A FRIEND was relating how after her daughter had read the Da Vinci Code, she had wanted to read the Bible. Which is not in itself a bad thing except that she was concerned that an impressionable young mind would not be able to differentiate fact from fiction. Also it seemed that perhaps what was needed is a Da Vinci Code-type book for Muslims to spark off the same level of interest in young people in their own religion.

Except that if anyone tried to write a similar thriller based around Islam, they'd be hounded and pilloried and threatened with death, thousands would riot in protest and people who would never have been able to read the book either because they are illiterate or can't afford it would have died.

Such is the difference between our religions. While there are many Christians who are upset about the book and movie, they are countering it with seminars and other educational events to balance what is being said in the book, even if the book is only fiction. There have not been Da Vinci Code-related riots or deaths thus far. Which speaks volumes for the adherents of the faith.

It would be nice if everyone could brush off similar challenges and say "we are strong enough to withstand any attack". Even if a book or a movie becomes a runaway hit, compared to the total number of any faith's followers, the numbers sold can never match it. Books are by nature, in a world where illiteracy is still common, a luxury item. As are American movies, no matter what arguments people make about cultural imperialism.

I remember when there were riots over Salman Rushdie's book The Satanic Verses, President Benazir Bhutto commented wryly that the people who were dying over the book were those who would never have read it, or possibly even heard of it if someone hadn't whipped them into a frenzy. A similar situation arose with the cartoons. As insensitive as they were, they were still not worth dying over.

The point is that people's impressions of a religion are often related to the behaviour of its adherents. Some religions are thought of as simply kooky because its followers behave strangely. Some are viewed as benign and peaceful because its followers resolutely will not harm a fly.

But when people, supposedly in the name of religion, riot, burn and kill, it can't help but give the impression of a religion that advocates this, no matter how much we point out that nowhere in religious texts itself does it say you should do this. And unfortunately we get the whole spectrum, from men who publicly insult women on a daily basis without censure to the real crazies.

Recently in New York I had to suffer the embarrassment of having to listen to a Muslim man say to a non-Muslim woman at a forum, "Don't mess with Muslims, we have nuclear weapons!" There I was trying to dispel stereotypes about violence-prone Muslims and in one fell swoop, this nut case confirmed every stereotype there was.

I think the only people who can dispel stereotypes about Muslims are women. While there are certainly some conservative women, even when these speak out they will naturally change perceptions because in a world where Muslim women are perceived to be perpetually hidden behind curtains, their sheer presence and articulateness will be noticed. What more if they are able to argue rationally in a calm manner.

Thus far there have been very few Muslim men in the international media who give a good impression. We might argue that the Western media selects who they interview in order to perpetuate stereotypes, which is true and that is a problem for all of us. A man or woman who looks like the archetypal wild-eyed conservative is far more telegenic than someone who looks like everyone else. Channel surfers are far more likely to stop at the sight of someone they think of as alien to their culture than if they see someone too similar to them. To stop this means having to make a concerted effort to come together as one community and decide on a sophisticated media strategy. But sadly coming together as one united community is a challenge in itself.

If we do manage as a global community to change other people's perceptions of us, the benefits would be many. Our own people might think more kindly of each other so peace would reign within. And because within ourselves, we respect diversity, we can do the same with others. Then peace would truly have a chance.

my relatives came (from different countries) yesterday to celebrate my cousin's wedding this afternoon (just now). =D first of all, i'd like to say:

CONGRATULATIONS TO (CICI) NIKE AND (KOKO) RIESWAN ON THE WEDDING!!!

may you have a Christ-centered, happy family in Kunming. =)

last night the 8 of us had dinner in crystal jade in scotts road. and i embarrassed myself there. =_= i thought koko rieswan's order was mine just because our food has the same colour. uwaa.. *blush*

just now for lunch we ate in the peranakan cuisine... IVINS. in upper thomson road. well, the food's supposed to be nice, but was hell for me cause most of them were spicy... haiz. my tongue's too sensitive!!! T_T like my bro said, i miss out a lot in life. golly.

for dinner, i actually had chicken rice at home (bought 2 days ago. LOLS!), but tagged along with my bro n dad to meet cici nike and koko rieswan again in scotts road (again). but instead of crystal jade, we only ate in the food court. i bought a chin chow with longan dessert. my bro ate pastamania!!! i was drooling there. =_= i ate the chicken rice earlier at home cause i was too hungry since for lunch i ate so damn little....

the newlyweds (XP) are gonna leave for Kunming tomorrow at 8, a 4-hour direct journey.
may God bless them.

*cici - feminine - elder sis, but can be used for cousins or friends if they're older than u..
*koko - masculine - elder bro, but ditto.

watched The DaVinci Code last night, watched the seminar on The DaVinci Code today.

main point for today:
Dan Brown has issues.
really big ones.

666 glass plates on the pyramid thingy? bullsh*t.
exact number's 673. =_= evil number? my foot.

Maria Magdalene seated beside Jesus in The Last Supper [by daVinci]? bullsh*t.
it was john, one of Jesus' disciples. artists in renaissance period (e.g. Michaelangelo, Leonardo da Vinci, etc) often drew men's faces nearly like a lady's then because of some... reason which i forgot what. =P (i had no paper and pen to take down notes just now) anyway, Dan Brown stupidly claimed that the "lady" beside Jesus in The Last Supper was Mary Magdalene, which is wrong.

many more reasons, actually.

how does he confuse you?
he uses a worldly-recognised name which will have a great impact such as daVinci instead of Leonardo [his first name] cause obviously it will attract readers' attention and Leonardo can just be anybody. it's more of a general name, really.
and he uses real-life settings which really exist such as the Louver Museum, the place which you definitely have to visit if you ever go to England (it takes 3 months to see all of the paintings there, so just see the ones you want to see... cause of time constraint, for sure XP), and that chapel mentioned in the story (Templar Chapel? i forgot the name of the chapel).

his book is under fiction, really, but he makes people think it's real.
the wonders of a really good author. with no shame.
---
anyway i heard that the seminar today was relayed to 14 cities all over the world, in 8 different countries. cool, eh? XP about 7,000 people watched it. no wonder we had to "book" the place first. it was so full. and this saturday too, at 2 PM, in TVRI channel (indo), the whole seminar will be played again, for those who couldn't make it today, and for the rest of the world (indonesia, actually. lols.) to see.

so when someone asks you, "hey, do you know that Jesus was married to Mary?", just ask back, "do you know that you asking me that just goes to show how dumb you exactly are?"

remember, the truth is in the Bible. =)
God bless.

** Hikaru X Haruhi X Kaoru Fanlisting

realise something?
it's the first time i actually agree on Haruhi ending up with more than 1 ending pair candidate!
usually i only stuck to 1 person being the partner of the main character.
but the guys in OKHC are all so good that i don't mind Haruhi ending up with anyone of them! XP
but still, some are exceptions...
someone like Hani is just a no-no! =P
yeah, he's cute, but gay.

ANELIE CALLED HIKARU GAY!!!
die, anelie! >=D

lols.
just kidding.
don't take it to heart, kies? =P
i'm just kidding, really. ^^;

...
i decided i should keep calm.
the bakayaro-bakamono-kisama-chikuso virus i mean.
hopefully it'll only affect my graphic card, and not the entire harddisk.
i'd hate it if all of my anime (at least 50 70 episodes) are gone.
and manga. and songs. and scanlation links.
*bites and pulls shirt*

the rest? heck.

and this'll make my blog look neater. xP

gone to bugis junction today with angeline, her sis (fanny?) and her auntie.

i waited for them in clementi mrt for 1 whole hour. =/ i thought we're supposed to meet at 2, but they only left the house at 2.

this is what waiting for a whole hour in clementi mrt got me:
-saw wan ru leading some group for some game(?) [cps friend]
-saw shawn goh [cps friend]
-saw serina [cps friend]
-saw the short malay guy whose name i forgot [cps friend]
-saw the blur 3/2 guy who's always kena picked on by ms chong
-leg cramp

=X

tonikaku, we got to bugis by mrt and arrived at... 3+?
fanny and her aunt searched for seats in the food court while angel and i bought some korroke.
cheese one for me! XD
then we ate at the food court, chicken rice (for me).
then we walked around seiyu, but never got anything. =/
we went home shortly after that cause angel has another one of those angel's emergency moments. =P but this time it's just a windy stomach (lols. is there such a phrase?).
hitched a taxi ride from angel. ^^ thanks!

that's all for today!

oh! a shooting star!
=_=

alright, alright, a proper post. my bro's being rather selfish again, i guess. he wants to download some x-men game, so he's changing the internet connection, resulting in me not being able to do anything.

guess i'll post my exam results now. i mean, what is stated on my report book. i haven't completely forgotten to post about it, you know?

english: 75.9 - A1
chinese: 40.8 - E8
a maths: 49.4 - D7
e maths: 71.3 - A2
biology: 58.3 - C5
chemistry: 64.4 - B4
physics: 73.7 - A2
comb. humans: 66.3 - B3

they're rubbish results. i'm only happy with english. maybe physics too, just a little. ha.

---*
oh. another shooting star.
=.=

what can i update on, anyway?
oh, there's something i can update you guys on, but you guys wouldn't care anyway. i bet you can guess what it is.
d'uh? what else? my anime & manga updates. (is k-drama now included, too?)

manga:
i just bought:
Ouran High Host Club #7

My Fair Lady #7 and Zig Zag #3 and Fruits Basket #19 and Magister Negi Magi #13 are coming out soon. i'll borrow the first 2 from lele after she bought it. =D then i'll just have to buy the rest. =D oh yeah. edwin said he's going to buy 3 manga for me for free. let's see if he'll keep to his promise. $7.90 times 3. too lazy to count.

my aunt just bought:
Nakayoshi #30 onwards
B-Wanted #4 onwards
Detektif Conan #44
Working Girl #3

tabun. perhaps. at least she has bought everything except 1, which i dunno what. but i really thank her a lot. =D she's coming over on the 9th, i think. from indo.

anime:
finished watching:
Aishiteruze Baby (26 episodes)
Hanbun no Tsuki ga Noboru Sora (6 episodes)
Kage Kara Mamoru (12 episodes)

currently watching:
Spiral ~Suiri no Kizuna~ (episode 7) -downloaded: 13/25
Ouran Koukou Host Club (episode 8) -downloaded: 8/??

Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicle (episode 31) -downloaded: 31/??

k-drama:

continue posting @ 9:06 PM, Saturday, 03/06/06.

sent diana and edwin off in airport today. we were rushing cause we need to get to my church in bugis by 4:30 PM! we reached the airport only at 3:45 PM and we had to leave at 4. imagine me eating a turkey bacon burger [not student size] at a time limit of 10 minutes. then angel and i left edwin and diana and took the mrt to bugis. we were late for 15 minutes... = = we thought we were last to go in, but 5 minutes later ryan came in. haa.

pak amin tjung talked about how God chose us first, not us choosing Him (as in those who believe in Him and get saved). we ended at around 6:10 cause there's a long announcement. have to fill in a survey and hand it to them next week.

after remaja we [me + angel + ryan] went to heeren. ry bought the billabong wallet he's been eyeing on for days from 77th street. then we went to cineleisure and ate at yoshinoya. angel and i bought mineral water from cheers cause the drink's too expensive. =.= ry used a tiny mini bottle with plain water inside. i was like... =_O" it looks like the soya sauce bottle. about 13 cm tall, i think. rephrase: 13 cm short.

anyway, after eating we just took 174 home. there was this stupid old man who refused to take away his bag off the chair which is just next to angel's seat. =.= then everyone who just boarded the bus kept on asking angel to remove the bag. angel then points to the old stupid man and the man would just grumble without taking it off. and there was this 1 couple who looked so fugly and fierce. anyone who looks at them would really feel like punching the wits outta them. seriously. first the guy was seated across from angeline and the girl was behind the guy. then when there were empty 2-seated seats behind me and ryan, they dashed for it. angel hadn't even opened her mouth to tell me to sit with her and they already sat there. at least the guy was there. then he called the girl. stupid.

anyway, i'm supposed to be the one to usher the people and collect offerings in church tomorrow. once again, white top and black bottom. and i was just baptised last week. haha. just hope i won't be the one to pray in front of everyone. i have stage frights for it.

that's all for today i guess. too long, right? =P
